My kids love fruit leather, they call it fruit candy! Fruit leather is probably the closest you can get to a natural candy that still has some benefit to you thanks to the fiber and the vitamins. The sugar is optional, we used very little with ours as the apples that we used were very sweet. If you are making your fruit leather with just tart berries, you may want to add a little sugar to taste.
Probiotics are becoming all the rage right now. And as they should. Probiotic lemonade is only one of the many probiotics that are super easy to make and much cheaper to make at home than buy in a bottle. Continue reading “Probiotic Lemon Fizz | Can you really Make Lemonade from Sauerkraut??”
Kombucha seems to be all the rage these days. Drinking it is the new super cool thing to be doing. We have been drinking and making kombucha for years in our house.
Today is a yucky, rainy, go-nowhere sort of day. We have the fire on, and some kids movies playing on the telly.
My hands-down favorite dessert is a New York baked cheesecake. A good New York baked cheesecake. Who can resist the warm, sweet spicy smell of fresh hot cross buns? Hot cross buns are a traditional Easter time treat. This sourdough hot cross bun recipe has no refined sugar and no commercial yeast.
There are few things I like more than having a curry and watching a movie with my hubby once the kiddlywinks are in bed. They don’t even like curry. Weirdos. THIS Black Pepper Beef Curry is one of my favourites. I really love the taste of black pepper, and in this dish, it is the star of the show! Continue reading “Black Pepper Beef Curry”
This cocoa based homestyle chocolate sauce recipe is super quick to make at home. Because it is made from scratch, you know exactly what is in it. There are no preservatives or random chemicals. Just pure, homemade chocolatey goodness. It is the sort of treat your Grandmother would make, before chocolate was so freely available but everyone had some cocoa in the cupboard.
I have lived gluten free for the best part of 10 years now. I have tried a LOT of chocolate brownie recipes. Most gluten free chocolate brownies are dry, chalky or crumbly. And quite frankly, gross. This, on the other hand, is chewy around the edges and soft and gooey in the middle. It is the perfect blend of goodness and awesome. This easy recipe is a favourite in our household. My girls (8&6) LOVE caramel, so salted caramel cookies are, of course, often requested. These are crunchy on the outside and chewy in the middle and oh so yummy. The girls can make them by themselves (with supervision), and my boy (2) loves to help.
