You can plant out cabbage and cauliflower seedlings now for spring harvest.

Earth up your celery and leeks to encourage plenty of white crispy growth.

This is also a good time to look at your herb garden and see what you would like to add or divide and spread around.

Mint: Grows easily from divided plants, or root cuttings in water on your windowsill. Plant mint in a buried bucket to stop it spreading too far.

Chives: Grows easily from seed, or divide and existing clump. Keep trimmed for fresh growth.

Sage: Can be grown from seed or propagated from young cuttings in early summer, or dividing the roots now.

Thyme: Easily propagated from seed or by dividing existing plants. It is best to break plants up every two or three years to keep the growth fresh and soft for cooking.

Parsley: Grows easily from seed and will self sow if left to go to seed.

FRUIT

Strawberries are available in the stores now, or find a friend with some to give away! Plant them now before the ground gets to cluggy to work, this will ensure fruit early next summer. Fresh soil and fresh plants is recommended every two years to keep a good crop.

For further reading, I really recommend all of these books. I own every one of them and they are amazing resources!
