Weekly Garden Diary: Autumn Week 12

VEGETABLES

Jerusalem artichoke tubers are now ready to harvest. You can plant new plants by simply popping a tuber into the ground. You can plant them any time from now until early spring.

If you would like to try Jerusalem artichokes, have a look at your local farmers market, there are bound to be some there. They like a good sprinkling of manure and to hamper their invasive tendencies you can grow them in a tire stack.

FRUIT

If you have not yet ordered your fruit trees I encourage you to do so as soon as possible.

Now is also the time that you can expand your berry cane patch as most berries / currants / gooseberries can be planted now.
